Library Time

We were able to take a trip to our new library. It is amazing! The children's section is huge. Actually the entire library is huge compared to our previous library. I was so delighted to become a member and find out that we can take out 50 books per card. What! That is awesome news. They also offer a ton of activity sessions for toddlers and children's reading times throughout the week.  We've made two trips and this is what we got:

I am open to children's literature suggestions. What do you like reading to your littles? I've come across this list of top 100 children's books to read. I am excited to have a goal of completing this list in our reading life.

Library Time

We are back to our routine of going to the library bi-weekly. Here are our selections from our most recent trip:

Reading update:
Amar'e no longer wants to sit down and listen to the stories when I'm reading to her. She insist on either reading to me, which is fine, but she rarely allows me to read her a story from start to finish. Sometimes I can't even read her one word. I know she is only two, but much closer to three, and her attention span is limited but this new disinterest seems to be a regression in attention span. We use to be able to sit and read an entire story together. I'm sure that this is just a phase and that this periodic disinterest will not last long. I find it very important that she is able to sit,  at least for a short time, and read to one another at least once a day (or every other).  The benefits can last a lifetime and I thoroughly enjoy it!

What are you reading with your family?

We Would Like To Thank You And Library Time

We joined Top Baby Blogs on November 6th, and as of today we are at spot 118. We started at 378. I am so impressed by this. Thanks to all of you who are voting for us! We couldn't have done this without you. Very, very, very thankful!!!!! Keep up the voting folks! Now, without further a due, our library books this week:

I have to say that Amar'e and I are enjoying the fairy tales book very much. It is super thick and filled with the classic fairy tales. Fairy tales have been my new reading interest for us. I will be starting to research fairy tales. I am excited as to what I will find out. ♥

What have you and your little one(s) been reading?

Happy reading my friends!

Library Time

We have been having fun with our library books lately. We have gotten better at getting our books back on time. We go to the library every other Tuesday. It used to be on Friday's because they had story time. This is a great time for Amar'e and I to go and listen to a nice lady read to a group of children. I do plan on trying to get back to Friday as our library day. This means we will either plan to keep the books out later or bringing them back earlier. It is worth it to be able to get Amar'e to participate in story time. When we were going earlier in the year, she was the youngest child there. Everyone commended me on starting her on books so young. I am pretty proud that we have been able to keep up with the library visits. I am still ready Bringing up Bebe. I only have 50 pages left, and I want to finish it before Tuesday. I seriously recommend this book to any mothers out there interested in how other countries treat child rearing, and how other places do things differently. Example of this would be government subsidized child care for everyone. Super interesting! Love it very much! Anyway, here are Amar'e picks the last time we went to the library:

I am always looking for interesting new books for Amar'e. So if anyone has any good suggestions, please sent them our way via comment below!

Happy reading my friends!

Library Time

I have to be honest, I have been slacking a bit with our library routine. The last set of books we got we had for over a month. I didn't let them become overdue, instead I called when they were due and had them renewed. I plan on staying on track as much as I can, because it is extremely exciting getting new books to read to Amar'e. I probably look forward to it more then she does. I am still reading "Bring Up Bebe", and plan on finishing it in the next week or so. Take a look at our choices:

Library Time

As a child, I don't remember there being a big emphasis put on reading at home...I am sure this was just fine, with me being a child, but it made it ever so difficult in school being surrounded by strong readers. I would dread when everyone would read aloud in a circle. I couldn't even concentrate on what the story or text was about. Instead, I would be skipping forward to the part I would have to read aloud and I would pre-read it to myself to make sure I didn't sound stupid reading it ( I would hate coming across a word I didn't know how to say). Embarrassing, and I am sure this somehow affected my language arts skills. We all know that reading and writing go hand and hand (to all of you grammar people out there-Sorry in advance-my grammar may not always be perfect, but I will get better as I continue to blog and read). Now as an adult, with children of my own, I am very determined to emphasize how important reading is. I have made it a bi-weekly event that I bring the kids to the public library to get books. I am extremely determined to raise strong readers. As part of our list of goals for 2012, I have gotten rid of cable and we read more. It is also suggested for Damien to read 10 books over summer vacation. He is not pumped about this, but what 10-year-old would be? I have a personal goal to read to Amar'e on a daily basis. Depending on the condition of the house, nap time, lunchtime, errands, this sometimes doesn't happen, but I make an effort. I will sometimes read to her what I am reading to kill two birds with one stone (we do not support killing anything, its just a saying). Here is a look at our selection of books we picked up last Friday at the library:

Happy reading my friends! ♥
