Operation: "Christmas Tree"

For our family the Christmas tree is an important tradition we have. Andrew and I use to take decorating the tree very, very seriously. This year, we was more relaxed about it because we wanted to try something new. We had talked about cutting down our own tree many times in the past, but it never happened. We usually buy it from Wal-Mart, or from the local tree farm guy. Every year the price of the tree seems to go up, and they seems to go down in quality. Last year was especially disappointing. We bought our tree from Wal-Mart, and it was a $45 waste. First of all, I hate supporting anything Wal-Mart, and second of all we bought it on a spur of the moment shopping trip without prior thought or planning. When we got it home we seriously thought about returning it. Returning  a Christmas tree??? Yes, it was that bad. The worst part was that it was a $50 tree we grabbed on accident because it was with the $45 trees. It was just flat out horrible. This year we wanted a unique tree, and that's exactly what we got. The best part; it was only $5! Win-win. It was also fun to go into the White Mountain National Forest with the entire family and cut it down ourselves (This was all done legally, we had to purchase a permit). We are happy that our tree is unique looking, we picked it out ourselves, and Wal-Mart didn't get our money this year. We are all about change this year and I am glad we are starting a new tradition for Amar'e and Damien. We will be doing this again next year, and I can't wait!

 Suited up and ready.
Damien thought he was going to use that knife to cut down our tree.
 Getting our permit.
The hunt is on.

Amare's hands and my feet were freezing so we headed back to car to wait for the boys to bring our tree.
Great job Damien and Andrew, but that tree is huge! Will it even fit into the house??

Injuries sustained during "Operation Christmas Tree".
It fit! We had some trouble getting it to stay up in the base, but Andrew made it happen.
Kliff came by to help us decorate our tree.

I am so happy we made this dream come true. It was worth it!

P.S.- Over the weekend I taught myself to crochet! I am super super excited about it! Looking forward to making wonderful things!

    1. Knitting also interest me but my mother in law gave me crochet needles so it was easy to start with crochet. I will surely be sharing my crocheted creations! Only if you promise not to laugh at the first crocheted creation. I dont know what it is :) I will be sharing soon. Please do the same with your scarves!
